Photo Size Compressor to Exact KB

Enter any target in KB. ToolNova searches for the highest practical JPEG quality under your limit and automatically reduces dimensions only when a large image cannot reach the target otherwise.

Click to upload or drag and drop a JPG, PNG or WebP photo here
Common limits: 20–50KB (forms), 100–200KB (CNIC/passport uploads).

How to compress an image to a target KB size

  1. Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Enter the maximum file size you need in KB, for example 20, 50, 100, 200 or 500.
  3. Click Compress to target size. ToolNova searches for the best quality under the limit and reduces dimensions only if necessary.
  4. Check the output size and dimensions, then download the JPG.

Features

  • Targets a maximum KB size instead of relying on a fixed quality slider
  • Automatically scales down very large images when quality compression is not enough
  • Shows actual result size, JPEG quality and output dimensions
  • Runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded to ToolNova

Quick image-size presets

Need a common upload limit? Open a pre-set tool for 20KB, 50KB, 100KB, 200KB or 500KB. The custom tool on this page accepts any positive KB target.

Why image dimensions sometimes need to change

File size depends on both visual complexity and pixel dimensions. A large phone photo may still be bigger than a strict target even at very low JPEG quality. In that case ToolNova reduces width and height proportionally, then searches the quality range again. This usually produces a cleaner result than crushing a full-resolution image at extremely low quality.

Frequently asked questions

Type 20 or 50 into the target size field and click Compress — this works the same way whether you need 20KB, 50KB, 100KB, 200KB or 500KB; the tool searches for the highest practical JPG quality under the number you enter, reducing dimensions if a large image cannot reach the limit through quality compression alone.

The target is treated as a maximum file size rather than an exact byte-for-byte number. ToolNova searches for the highest practical JPEG quality under the limit and, if needed, reduces the image dimensions automatically. Very tiny targets can still be impractical for highly detailed images.

The compressed result is saved as JPG, since JPG's adjustable quality setting is what allows hitting a specific target size; PNG doesn't support the same kind of quality-based compression.

They share the same compression engine, but this one lets you type a target size (like 100KB) and finds the right quality automatically, while the Image Compressor uses a manual quality slider for when you just want the file smaller, not an exact size.

Target size is a constraint, not a quality score

A smaller file is not automatically a better result. The aim is to stay under the required KB limit while preserving enough detail for the destination, which may mean changing both JPEG quality and pixel dimensions.

  • Crop first if large areas of the photo are not needed.
  • Enter the portal’s actual KB ceiling rather than an arbitrary round number.
  • Inspect the downloaded file at 100% before submitting it.
