Make a QR code easier to scan

Use a complete destination URL including https:// when creating a website QR code. Keep enough empty space around the code and avoid stretching the image after download, because distorted modules can reduce scan reliability.

Before printing or publishing a QR code, test it with more than one phone if possible. For long URLs, a shorter destination can create a less dense code that is easier to scan at small physical sizes.

If the destination may change later, remember that a normal QR code stores the destination directly. Updating the website behind the same domain/path can work, but changing the encoded URL requires generating a new QR code.

Frequently asked questions

No, once generated the QR code encodes your text directly — there's no server involved, so it works forever and doesn't rely on this site staying online.

No, the QR code is drawn entirely in your browser using a local JavaScript library.

Test the QR code before publishing it

A QR image can look correct but still be hard to scan if it is printed too small, placed on a busy background or contains an incorrect URL. Always scan the final exported version with more than one device when it matters.

  • Use the complete final URL, including HTTPS when appropriate.
  • Leave clear white space around the code.
  • For print, avoid stretching the image after export because distorted modules can reduce reliability.
